In 2019 we revamped our hamster adoption program and we have almost regularly been getting surrender requests ever since! Hamsters have been coming to us from shelters, individuals that are moving and cannot bring with them, and we have had large groups surrendered from people who 'bought two girls' that then multiplied into close to 20 hamsters!
1. You know more about your hamsters likes, dislikes, and personality (i.e what time of day are they active? Are they territorial? How are they about being handled? etc.)
2. You have the ability to purchase an appropriate size habitat through us equipped with whatever toys and hides the hamster has been using.
3. Adopting a hamster helps make room for us to save more hamsters that are in need!
Most pet stores do not have appropriate sized habitats - even the multi level large cages don't offer a deep enough bottom to burrow properly. Hamsters need over 600 square inches of floorspace and 6-8 inches of bedding to burrow in, Syrian hamsters especially need closer to 1,000 square inches of floorspace. We sell habitats that start around 800 square inches. Please ask us about pricing and availability when you submit your application so we can verify we have one on hand to sell.
